May 4, 2024 Sketch-Meet

May’s Sketch-Meet will be EARLY this month.

Edmonton Urban Sketchers will be participating in International Urban Sketcher’s Week May 1-7 so we decided to shift our Sketch-Meet to the first Saturday in May to coincide. It will also be our first outdoor sketch of the year!

We’ll meet at The Paint Spot art store (10032 81 Ave) just outside on the sidewalk Saturday, May 4th, 11 am-1 pm and be sketching the block (81 ave).

This block, coincidentally, has all of the daily themes we set for International Urban Sketchers Week. Sketch one of the themes or anything you desire in the area. The themes are heritage buildings, cafes and restaurants, theatre and music venues, green spaces, places of worship and a building with a mural.

If the weather is unfavourable, pop into one of the businesses in the area and have a sketch. Just remember to ask permission to sketch if you are not going to be purchasing anything and to not impede any patrons or staff that may be shopping or going about activities at any of the locations you stop in at.

For our social gathering we will be heading to Maki Maki Japanese & Vietnamese Restaurant (8109 101 St) at 1 pm to share our drawings and have lunch or snacks.

Bonus! Come to the Paint Spot early, 10 AM-11AM, or after the sketch meet, and have a look at the sketchbooks submitted by fellow Urban Sketchers Edmonton members that are on display in the store.
